Dark Sun World… Shura Country… Cave of Trials… Every secret the game has to offer is right here in this complete 300+ page guide! Oh and did I mention it came with a collectible Majin Etna trading card (*^ー゚)b

MediaWorks’ ”Disgaea 2 - The Complete Guide” is exactly that… a complete and detailed look at every battle sequence, secret playable character, bosses, stages, endings, and statistical charts. The guide arrived yesterday in the mail and of course, I was ecstatic beyond belief that I had in my hands the key to unlocking everything in the game. Since I had Disgaea 2 for well over 4 months now, I felt it was time that I complete the task of discovering all the hidden treasures the game had to offer. I’ve already beaten the game a few times already, but as everyone who’s played Disgaea 1 knows, beating the game is only half the battle. There are tons, and I mean literally tons of alternate missions to complete after finishing the main story. Even more so than the first Disgaea.

Secret Playable Characters:

As many of your are already fully aware, Disgaea 1 offered 2 secret playable characters… Prier and Majorly, (if you hadn’t known that already, shame on you!) Disgaea 2 on the other hand, offers 5 secret playable characters. Two of them, according to the guide book, requires specific and time consuming effort on your part, so be prepared to be spending awhile sitting glued to your TV screens. Below are scans, straight from the guide book of course, of the 5 new unlockable characters themselves. If you don’t want to ruin the surprise, then restrain yourselves from clicking those links. If you want to know now, then feel free to click away. (For all those importers out there who have unlocked all 5, congratulations! Mind telling me how many hours of gameplay you have saved on your memory card? Because I know it must’ve took you awhile.)

Secret Bosses:

Make note that characters listed on the right side of the second scan down below are not secret bosses. Oh and yes, everyone that’s featured are characters you have to fight, (except for a certain someone.)

LV 9999:

The one big surprise I found in the guide is their method of showing how to increase your character’s level from 1 to 9999 within just a few hours of gameplay Σ(゜д゜;). However there’s a catch. You must first prepare your character in trying to do so. That means getting the right conditions and such, which may take hours if not days. But it will pay off dramatically in the end. I won’t get into detail yet on how to do so, but I can say it does involve the following:

  • Item World
  • Convictions
  • Transmigrating to Prinny for pardon
  • Pirate Maps
  • Shura Country
  • Turning the “Skills Animation” option off
  • High ranking equipment
  • Mad Jesters!

In closing:

Well I’m not going to reveal any secret alternate endings or items just yet, as I know there are lots of you out there who still have yet to play the game and are anxiously waiting for August to arrive. But I can assure you that Disgaea 2 will keep you entertained for months to come, since there’s LOTS of hidden treasures to unlock and discover. As for me, I’m off to play the game again and hopefully meet the conditions to level up to 9999, (I hope.) So in closing I’d like to say that, yes, I love Disgaea 2 way more than the first one. The game’s system is more balanced, the battle sequences are more fluid in animation, the story is more developed and well brought out, item world has never been more fun, there’s more to do in the Dark Assembly, (like becoming a member of the Senate), everyone from Disgaea 1 makes an appearance, (except for a few creatable characters), and nothing in the world can describe the joy one feels in trying to conquer the mysterious “Dark Sun World” ヽ(´ー`)ノ
