More Lumiere on the way, always a good thing…

Moon Phase Diary is reporting that a sequel to the sci-fi 24-episode anime series, produced back in 2002, could in fact be in the works. Seiyuu Aya Hirano is said to have leaked the information on the most recent episode of her “Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu SOS-dan Radio Subdivision” broadcast. A pilot episode to Kiddy Grade 2 is expected to be released soon.

Now if that wasn’t shocking enough, apparently there’s also a Romeo x Juliet anime adaptation in production as well. The news was just announced from GONZO Festa Fall ’06. A sneak preview of William Shakespeare’s play-to-Japanese animation was shown at the end of the show to a group of surprised attendees. To summarize what we know so far:

  • Official Title: Romeo x Juliet
  • Release date: 2007
  • Release format: N/A
  • Animation Studio: GONZO
  • Chief Animation Director: Oisaki Fumitoshi
  • Supervising Director: Satou Junichi
  • Series Composition: Yoshida Reiko
  • Producer: Ikeda Touyou

First we had the announcement of a Les Misérables anime earlier this year — and now Romeo and Juliet? I’m not sure what to make of all of this…
