Eight New Anime Titles for 2007

- A
remake sequel to the original Ikki Tousen 2003 TV series, currently titled “Ikki Tousen ~Dragon Destiny~” is planned for February 2007 — set for air on AT-X. Kiyotaka Ohata, of Sister Princess fame, is taking the position of director for the new project. Animation Studio Arms is also on the bill. - “Yes! Pretty Cure 5” is the new PreCure series in the franchise which will feature not just 2 main heroines, but 5. It was also previously reported that this leaked image here for the first time revealed the new girls: Cure Dream, Cure Rouge, Cure Lemonade, Cure Aqua, and Cure Mint. Planned for broadcast after Splash Star ends its run.

- Mohiro Kitoh, creator of the infamous Narutaru series, brings his newest work to life with the anime adaptation of “Bokurano”. Director Morita Hiroyuki, of The Cat Returns movie fame, is in for the ride. Character designs by Konishi Kenichi. Soundtrack by Nomi Yuuji. Animation production studio involved? None other than GONZO — may or may not be a good thing depending on who you ask.

- Koge Donbo, creator of Pita-Ten and Di Gi Charat, has her latest work, “Kamichama Karin“, receiving the anime treatment. Additional source.

- “MURDER PRINCESS” is a 6-episode OVA who’s 1st volume goes on sale March 3rd, 2007. The original manga is serialized in the seinen manga magazine Dengeki Teioh. Bee Train is the animation studio involved.

- The manga “MOONLIGHT MILE” by Otagaki Yasuo is also being converted into an animated TV series — set to broadcast on WOWOW in ’07.

- Toei Studios has several new upcoming projects for the new year, including “Eko Eko Azaraku”, which is based on the classic seminal horror manga by Shinichi Koga. It was serialized in Weekly Shounen Champion from 1976 to 1979.

- And finally, another Afternoon manga is getting animated — “Mokke.” It is based on the published work from Kumakura Takatoshi. For a synopsis, click here.
