precure

Was is it that really attracts the older male/female audience to a mahou shoujo series such as PreCure? The yuri undertones? What if that element was removed entirely? Would you still watch?

Starting from the left we see: Cure Mint (Green), Cure Rouge (Orange), Cure Dream (Pink), Cure Lemonade (Yellow), and Cure Aqua (Blue). Don’t have a clue as to what the names are of the two mascots in the image above. Cure Dream is supposedly the leader of the new Sailormoon/Sentai type series. She’s not doing it for me however. But I am taking a liking for Cure Rouge up there. Cure Lemonade looks cute too — may take some time getting used to that hairstyle of hers though.

So no chance of ever having Nagisa and Honoka make a come back right Toei. No instead you unleash this blatant rip-off of Tokyo Mew Mew — okay well I can’t say that yet, but I am sure the staff were looking at their designs thinking, “you know everyone’s gonna think Tokyo Mew Mew when they see these new girls.”

Well I would easily be labeled a “liar” here if I said I wasn’t looking forward to the next installment in the PreCure franchise, titled “Yes! PreCure 5” — just imagine what the new OP is going to sound like. A part of me does want to cover at least the first 2 episodes when it premieres in February of next year — there needs to be more mahou shoujo coverage out there anyway. But before the new chapter begins, there’s still the Splash Star movie, which I really want to see. Of course there’s also Saki and Mai on SS, who need to conclude the legend of “futari wa” precure.
