Psychic extraordinaire Randall had solved yet another mystery! Man I just admire your insight and amazing ability to see into the future like that…
A single mysterious webpage, a few well-placed ads on two of the largest anime-related news sites — AoD and ANN, hidden messages in the source code, the owner of sos-dan.com selling out and taking their own visitors for a ride — YHBT — site should be back soon, and Haruhi.tv having to spend most of the week offline — but not without inside references to volume 4 of the novel. All this combined with the attention of the entire online community. Yes one of the greatest anime viral marketing campaigns indeed…
Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to go and see the new Yagami Yuu OVA. If you don’t know what that is, don’t bother googling it.

Well I’ll stick around for awhile :P
Sorry, I just felt like posting that…
Things are going to get a lot more boring from here on out.
*salutes* It was fun.
Isn’t that Haruhi picture a bit too busty for the US?
This video absolutely sucks.
It’s hosted on Dreamhost… By…

Weird that they have unsubtitled Japanese in it. Nothing I didn’t understand with my limited training, but I’m sure Amerifans are going WHAAAA?!
For the purpose of clogging up your blog with comments, I’m going to suggest that all the Japanese and such is a way to court the more hardcore and wax the balls of the Amerifans who thing they have it all together. Which… DUHHHHH.
You forgot about Haruhi in Gaza.
Oh yeah the Gaza report. Christ, all these Haruhi stories in a single week.
Do we have to buy the DVDs?
I mean, am I not cool if I don’t buy a series I’ve already seen? I don’t know, I’m new to the whole “mob fandom” thing.
Cause that “promo video” hurt my ears and eyes. I want to cry out the suck, but I can’t :(.
“NO SPECIAL THANKS
DOWNLOADERS WHO NEVER BUY THE OFFICIAL DVDS”
But we still get a normal thanks, right?
They’ve got a Myspace page! Does this mean Haruhi is going emo?
The Pink Power Ranger is going emo. Along with Bandai.
I’m getting the DVDs, but ALL THIS WAITING FOR A STUPID VIDEO AND MYSPACE PAGE?
@Randall Fitzgerald:
Personally, I don’t really care, but someone happened to link to what you said in your blog about ANN to ANN. A few people were upset with what you said about them (to be expected). I’m just wondering… Did you just want to get the news out because you just wanted to, or because you wanted to prevent the huge viral marketing fiaco it became? Of course, you can always go talk to them yourself too…
I enjoy digging at ANN, them and 4Kids. Everyone at ANN has treated me like shit for a good while. I’m not so much talking about the users… though, some of them. Oh man. I choose not to mince words about it, so of course people will get upset. I wanted to put the news out there because it’s what I do. If you’ve seen ikimashou, I’m a newsblog. When I have information that the community might care about, I post it. I don’t keep it from the community, and it’s not a big deal if it’s Bandai or whatever. I’m assuming there are rules involved, but still DON’T GO POSTING THAT YOU KNOW. BAH!
As for talking to them, I’m assuming forum members, NO! HAAAAHAHAHAA! Oh man. My site isn’t really targeting the rabid Amerifan, so I don’t so much care if they hate me. I only cover a slim few bits of US news, and is usually negative. I don’t really support the American industry. It’s a farce… but I’m not going to rant on pK’s blog, though.

Okay, thanks. That helped a lot at understanding this a bit more… Just to say, I’m not really on anyone’s side here. I did relay what you said, but tried to be as neutral as possible.
And even though I do have a reputation on the ANN forum (mainly for being a strong moe and loli supporter, something which many of the users and staff there despise), I don’t really consider myself an Amerifan… But I DO support the US anime industry very strongly. And I just as much buy imported products, watch fansubs, and non-US industry supportive stuff too.

Heh… what to believe?
Phenie:
That page is by an anime blogger called DarkMirage. He gives lulz.
Pants:
Well, yeah, I can understand the position of supporting the US anime industry, but I have more stringent standards about things and really disagree with the handling of tons of anime and manga releases. As for ANN in general, I just sort of hate the sort of blind support they give to an industry that isn’t trying very hard. This new Haruhi move is a good something… you know?! Something that doesn’t ignore what the series was, but I sort of see at as the industry exception rather than the rule. While I do support the idea of bringing anime over, it should be with some base rules that respect the original or not at all. If you have to edit it to make meager sales in the first place, then there is no market. But there is a market, they just need to stop trying to extend it to every idiot in the US with a wallet. Booooo. OK! BACK TO MY WAFFLES@!
