  • Comments: Ending III, otherwise known by fans as the “emo Buttercup/Kaoru” ending. Well whatever people want to call it, I love it. The music is so beautiful. Probably the best written song so far in the show. But I also can’t help but love Kaoru even more after watching the visuals that go with it. And to be able to see her entire family was just surprisingly amazing.

Ep27 Commentary:

First half: Have you ever had kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi)? Ms. Keane has. In fact, the restaurant she was at had this awesome sushi machine — talk about Japanese fast food~. She shares her heavenly day with the class, as well as praises the invention of the convenient sushi machine. Meanwhile the scene cuts to where we see Kare’s black powder approaching that same local sushi restaurant mentioned earlier. The sushi machine inside is hit, and what comes to life? You guessed it. The machine kept popping them out like crazy. (Oh and I have to say, loved their theme music.) It should also be noted that even though there were literally hundreds of them being produced, the five main types of these “sushi monsters” can be classified as so:

Maguro Monster (Tuna)
Ika Monster (Squid)
Uni Monster (Sea Urchin)
Aji Monster (Horse Mackerel)
Ikura Monster (Salmon Roe)

So now with Kare’s new troublesome kids causing absolute disorder at the sushi restaurant, the girls are called into action. Miyako uses some lame nosebleed excuse, Momoko I forget, but Kaoru… geez, “Keane-sensei, I can’t stop farting.” Not something a girl should say. But then again… The girls dive straight into their individual henshin sequence scenery.

Ken then alerts the girls of the details. When they finally arrive at the restaurant, they noticed most of the sushi monsters have already escaped into the city. Another thing to note, these talking sushi freaks each squirted a good amount of wasabi on their heads — something to keep in mind later; and are now harassing the town folk yelling, “eat us! eat us!”

Now with the girls completely informed of the situation, they split up and take the necessary action to stop these monsters from causing anymore disturbance. Blossom uses her “Bracken Rice Cake Spin” attack. Bubbles uses her “Bubble Champagne” signature move. Of course there was also Butterpimp and her “Swing Sonic.” Unfortunately it was of no use to attack them directly. There was no end to how many there were. So the Professor and Ken pinpoint the source — the sushi machine we saw earlier. Buttercup knocks it out into the sky. Where exactly? We’ll find out later. By the way, another thing to note, Ken thinks the machine was hit by the runaway black lights from season 1. They still have yet to figure out this is Kare’s doing.

With the source taken care of, the next move was to figure out what to do with all the remaining sushi monsters in Tokyo City. The plan was to lure as many of these freaks into one location — the location being a water fountain which they will fill with soy sauce and the Professor’s “Soy Sauce with Chemical Z Particle Effect.” The plan works, the chemical solution turns them back to regular sushi, the girls take a bite of what was left over, but not without receiving a good wasabi surprise inside :D Oh, and as to the whereabouts of that machine? It was launched into space and surfaced onto some moon or planet where the new sushi monsters that it’s producing is being savored by some really hungry aliens. So the sushi guys get what they want in the end.

Second half: So what do you all think my reaction was when first seeing the Princess toss away her money out like that?

WAI~! She’s so shamelessly evil in her Princess form that I can’t help but fall in love with her all over again~♥

You’re so right my radiant star whom dispels the night skies~ The hell with the money. Your GORGEOUS looks alone are enough to draw everyone’s attention~!

And just as I was about to reach, erm I mean as I was about to jump for even more joy of finally seeing the Princess, Butterpimp had to knock her out with his “Swing Sonic” and Blossom and Bubbles were there to catch her in a giant money purse. Oh, and it just hit me. That “hai okay” hand gesture the girls do every time they catch the red beauty, meaning “money” for our Japanese friends, will be a running gag throughout the series. Amusing indeed.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww~

Back in the lab, the Professor and Ken turn the Princess back to Himeko, but not before Sapphire had made her escape from the Princess’ hair — so that’s why it’s so huge. The gang talk about about what they want to get for dinner, that is after taking Himeko back home first. Peach was hungry for some pizza — might as well please everyone, including our digital pets. When everyone leaves, Peach discovers Himeko’s pet cat Sapphire still in the lab. He knew that he had to keep watch on Sapphire until the girls came back. By the way, I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get to hear Sapphire speak. I thought since they’re both animals, we might actually get to hear what Sapphire sounds like in English. But instead, it was Peach who was translating her meows.

Later on, Peach loses sight of Sapphire. He frantically searches the lab and finds her in a room playing solitaire. This reminds him of what happened earlier in the day with his dog friends. Apparently he tried playing a game with them but instead his friends tried eating the cards that were set out for play. Sapphire then offered to play a game of baba nuki (Old Maid) — note for the Japanese version, it is exactly like the Old Maid we know, however, instead of removing a Queen or any other card, a Joker is added, and the player who is left with it loses. This would be a good game to keep her company.

Peach’s reaction was unforgettable

As they were halfway through the game, Peach thought that if he left his cards sitting on the table near him while leaving the room for a bit, Sapphire would slip in the Joker. This turned out not to be so. Peach just couldn’t believe it. But then out of nowhere Sapphire leans forward and kisses him on the cheek. Peach’s love-love mode is then in full gear. In the end, he let’s Sapphire win the game. They then step outside to sit on a bench while staring at the city lights. Sapphire once again leans close to Peach and nothing but love was in the air.

Best couple in the series

As the night goes on, Peach pours out his feelings — the poor pup never experienced anything like this before. The two are then seen dancing. Compliments were being thrown left and right — never knew Peach was such a romantic, I mean his “bésame mucho” line was priceless. But of course, as the two were about to share a kiss, Momoko arrives to interrupt their love-love adventure. Now the funny thing is, after the gang arrives, Sapphire completely changes her attitude. She tells Peach that she found the time they spent playing and chatting to be a bit boring. She also tells him that he’s 100 years too early to fall in love with her — oh that’s a heart-breaker. Peach, now a broken pup, was so fed up with all her games and foolishness that he just quickly sent her flying into the night sky. Where she landed? Right through the window of Himeko’s room. Her transformation sequence then began :D And so, as Peach was feeling really low from being played a fool, his three dog friends come over to see him. I know Peach will get over this in time. But it was nice to have experienced it was it not?

NOoooooOOOOOoooo! So close to waking up ;P
