PPGZ does have a wonderful amount of consistency. One of the good sides of the show. And episode 34 sounds great!

@Hetdegon: There are good sides in being European – like being able to watch Japanese DVDs on European DVD players because we have the same region code. x)

Collector’s Edition Volume 3 is out; the 3 featured characters are Professor Utonium, Ken Kitazawa, and Peach the Digital Dog (spelled Peach, and not Pichi). They also have partial blueprints for the lab.

Sony has decided to prevent PS3s from being sold in Europe.

Sony’s original decision was to delay the launch of the PS3 in Europe. This lead a Hong Kong businessman to buy the Asian release wholesale, and transport them to Europe, where he sold them until Sony obtained a C&D order against him. Since First Sale doctrine denies the Sony the right to decide who can buy their equipment from a person they’ve sold to, the basis of Sony’s suit was that the PS3 was unsafe. Sony will therefore be jacking up the price of the European PS3 to cover the cost of meeting the higher safety standards of the European commonwealth nations (which consists of additional certification rather than any physical mods). Meanwhile, a main selling point of the PS3, it’s internal Blu Ray player, is seeing rapidly developing competition from stand alone players that will be less expensive than the PS3 and superior to the PS3 at the work of playing movies. And the consumer public is now aware that the PS3 does *not* play most legacy games, whatever the original press release said; in fact, Sony has removed the legacy Emotion Chip from the European version and instead declared the intent to provide software emulation through an internet support site … that will not be open until launch day March 23. Sony representives expect to have some games for the console ready in time for the European launch … but won’t identify any of them. (I have to wonder, will the online software emulation not work on PS3s that have the Legacy Emotion Chip installed? Sony doesn’t seem to be claiming that it will work on first generation units….) So, it is a bit of an exageration to write that Sony is deliberately killing the PS3 … but the retailers interviewed say they’re only stocking to fill pre-orders.

What business are we talking about here? Unless I remember incorrectly, someone earlier also mentioned her family was having some kind of bath house. I don’t understand where that idea comes from, as her parents seem to live in Milan (working with something related to fashion?). I don’t recall anything being said about what Miyako’s grandmother does for a living, but she should be retired. (Dentures!) Do people mistake the pond the Goutokuji family have in their yard for a hot spring or something? ;)

Speaking of birthdays… err… I was reborn the day I saw Miyako the first time!

You’rebe right to question that Miyako lives in a public(?) bath house. It’s not hard to interpret that she might live in her familiy’s old traditional house. We could just as well specualate that her grandmother was a gardener from what Miyako says in Ep. 25 part 2. Or that Obaa-chan planted a lot of gardens around the bath house… or that Miyako’s _other_ grandmother was a gardener….

I don’t understand Japanese, but this was an assumption I made when I saw Miyako spending a lot of time cleaning the home (as public bath houses require a constant effort for cleanliness), and she is seen cleaning the large tub. This is where my assumption came from. I could be wrong, and if so, I’d like to know from someone who knows Japanese well enough to tell me that I’m making assumptions.

But that she runs a public business (which requires an order of magnitude more politeness in Japan than in the West) would go much farther in explaining her pleasant demeanor, as one could imagine that a child whose parents are in an especially lucrative business and spend a lot of time away from her.

I think the politeness is more easily explained with it being part of the “rich girl stereotype” that is seen in many animes. Take Tomoyo from Cardcaptor Sakura, for example. She also lives in a huge traditional japanese style house and always uses polite language. You know how rich people always seem to be conservative and traditional? Well, a traditional “good” japanese girl should be subordinate and obedient, and this is somehow shown in spoken language in being polite. So, I’m guessing she’s been raised that way, and the result is the wonderful, cute, charming and polite Miyako we all know and love. Well, this is my interpretation anyway.

Besides, I only saw one tub. A fairly small one at that. Public bath with a tub for one to two persons (or three small girls) or just a common tub? My guess would be… ;)

I knew that thing couldn’t be trusted. I even made a prediction with a friend that that thing would become a monster some day. Why can’t I ever think to make such a prediction here?

Is it me? Or is the episode is similar to the episode “Octi Evil” from the original PPG?

The only difference I can find is that Miyako is also got in the conflict which we still don’t know what cause it.

And yes. This episode look promising in terms of quality and storyline. Keep it up Toei or Aniplex!

Episode 35.
Time 5:17 on mine, as Blossom descends through the frame, it’s the same sequence where her abdomen shows past her skirt and isn’t covered in red leotard.

That part of their leotards must disappear after their skirts materialize.

I’m still stuck on how a mistake like this can be made. But I don’t mind it that much, really.

Oh, goodie. I cannot wait for the next episode. It seems like it will rock! If only every episode were such and not every other.

As for the leotard thing, how the heck were you even able to spot that? I went through that four times and didn’t notice a thing until I stopped it there. Not a large mistake since the uncolored area was very small, but enough to send people in a frenzy. Sometimes, I wonder what goes through your heads.

Well, you see. Games here arrive at least six months after they are released on the US market. I am still waiting for my copy of Castlevania PoR. Also, some games, even very popular ones in the US market never reach here. As example: Final Fantasy Tactics.
Others just get horrible releases without 60hz modes (Metal Gear Solid 3, SLOOOOOW), or very limited releases that dissapear in one month (Phantom Brave). Also, games like Disgaea came here in A CD!! with a crappy photoshopped cover, no JP voices and crappy manual…and they cost like $70 on default. (60€)
I am importing way more than before because even with shipping it’s way cheaper than buying here.

I have the DVD and went through it frame by frame trying to splice together a composite shot. At least, the first time. In episode 35, I couldn’t help but notice the re-use of previous animation, and tried to match each sequence to the episode in which it first appeared. I thought it notable that they hadn’t fixed the mistake.
