Let's talk about the first part of the episode:

The girls are in a make-up Mathematics lesson. As the girls finish the lesson, their belts sound for a short time then disappear. The girls want to play with other students rather than being Powerpuff Girls Z all the time and want to become her with their ordinary names. Yeah! I would like to call the girls normal name if they have not yet transformed or after de-transform and the Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup for the girls after transform. I want to play with the girls with and called them ordinary names. The models think they are so beautiful and want the Grass monsters to attack them. That makes Bubbles angry. How come the models will have such a stupid thinking? At the end of that part, the girls put the weeds back to the park and call them real names.

Let's shift from the first part of the episode to the second part of the episode:
Kare use a laptop computer to watch a Jidaigeki about Tokugawa Tsunayoshi who had compassion with the dogs while he is relaxing on a tropical island. He blows his black powder to wake the ghost of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi. The ghost enters the Mayor’s body and I think the Mayor dresses like a samurai. The plot is similar to the OPPG episode named "Bought and Scold" where Princess Morebucks buys the City Of Townsville and makes crime legal. But this plot is the Mayor uses the Monster, Laws of Compassion to make the monsters to commit crimes. At the end of that part, Buttercup gives a hot dog to mayor and the ghost leaves the Mayor’s body. The girls use yo-yo attack, Balloon Catcher and Swing Sonic to whack the ghost away. On the other hand, Kare is still relaxing on the island.

To summarize the episode, I think the episode is a bit better than episode 7 but worse than episode 2. I will rate this episode 3.5/10 stars.

Sure, pKjd, feel free to review it. Prices can go high: I've lost some over 10,000 yen (about $85). But generally they top off around $50, which comes to about $1 per sketch. Yes, there are usually a bunch of partial or crude rough drafts, but the jobbers always include enough really interesting ones to make the price a fair one. Certainly they're more worth collecting than sketches from Bleach, Hikaru no Go, or Rozen Maiden, which go for a lot more than PPGZ art. Thanks again for a strong web resource.

Those are some awesome sketches you have. I've seen a few listed on YAJ but it was always way out of my price range -- would've loved to have one with the Princess :P ... If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to feature your collection on the next ppgz review. Let me know. Thanks!

Dear pKjd:

Thanks for the very informative review and particularly for the screencaps. As an animation art collector, I recently bought two lots of sketches from this episode. Your review helped me put them into context, and I was able to mate quite a few of your screencaps with images I got. I used them on my animation art gallery (not directly linked to this site, but using resized images saved to my Photobucket site), giving credit to you and a link back to this blog. I hope this is OK. You can check out the sketches at my “We’re Not Weeds!” Gallery.

I agree that the plots of the episodes are not very complex, but there's no question that the animators at Toei studio had great fun creating the visual part of the show.

Sure, you can try mailing me at mokuhazushi22 at yahoo dot com. Be warned though, I always forget to check my mail, (true for my irl mailbox as well!) sometimes it takes weeks before I remember to log in. :-/ Trying to get better at that...

Yeah, I'm another one of those people that freaks out when they use "their" where it should be "they're" and do stuff like "a 100", "most cutest", etc. But I've learned the hard way that in that respect it's better to keep my mouth shut and enjoy the episode or I'll get blasted by the ops (although I understand where they're coming from).

Can I get your email? I wanna talk to you, but we're getting off topic here.

Drago11: I'm glad we can agree on not agreeing. :) My criticism was not directly directed towards [T-N] (although I feel they do deserve some of it) but the subbing community as a whole. I too am grateful for [T-N]'s work, and for them picking up PPGZ. Although I can grasp most of what is said without their subs, I think it's great someone tries to do something for all of those who can't. This doesn't mean I don't think their translations are full of silly mistakes, though. (Not talking about stuff like translating/not translating itadakimasu and such here; outright errors.) They're not that bad, this is just me being a perfectionist. You can watch one of their episodes and you'll understand what the characters are saying and what's going on, for the most part. And that's always something, right? ;)

@Kerg: Well, really I've never found that the karaoke and credits get in the way too much, but whatever. I do think they're a bit too colorful on the second opening, though. Still, as one who has depended on TVN for the last year and a half, I'm grateful for their work. Without them, I would not have had any exposure to tokusatsu, Jdramas, and some anime nobody else subs. I think they keep a fair balance of translation and untranslated cultural stuff. Attacks, catchphrases, and techniques (prime example: ninjutsu in Naruto) are stuff that I think is good to leave untranslated and offer an explanation of a few times. But whatever floats your boat.

@ Galen: XD. Peach's new body indeed.
