    Evangelion is short for Neon Genesis Evangelion, an anime series from several years ago notable for its characterization of the director’s mental illness.

    Chibi…Eva…? What the heck? I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry, I feel like doing both. Eva was such a beautiful series, I just don’t know how to react to an SD version of it.

    This is a most idiotic decision by GAINAX, even though it doesn’t appear to be orchestrated by the man himself, Anno; otherwise, I’d be pretty disappointed moreso. I don’t really like seeing the intelligent, religiously and philosophically symbolic - not to mention intense in both action and psychology - Eva condescend to the Azumanga Daioh-esque level, even if their ‘fans’ flaunt its comedy, which I find distasteful and mundane. But, eh, what can one do? Personally, I’m much more intrigued by the Rebuild of Evangelion movies, and this just seems as though an insult to what Neon Genesis Evangelion is truly about. An unfortunate sight to behold, indeed, despite being one of the more neophytic Eva fans.

    Granted, I could tolerate and rather enjoy the scenes in which the characters interacted - whether at school, Misato’s apartment, or somewhere completely else, but a whole series based on chibi-ized versions of merely the characters at their school? Absurd. I was able to like the concept behind Angelic Days - an expansion on the ‘alternative reality’ of E26 that is perceived by Shinji’s mind; however, this is taking Neon Genesis Evangelion way too far, sadly. I don’t approve. And will most likely totally ignore Eva@S. The blatant whoring of Eva has got to come to an end, honestly. It is insane. A few movies in which subtle, fresh pieces of the plot and characters be revealed and realized - to such a degree as to make it innovative again, giving us the thoughts of what we held back in ‘96 - are fine by me, although when it comes to this? No. Thanks.

    @volfera: I second that. But then again…it might be a totally new thing where everyone is happy…like the Angelic Days manga where it was an “alternate” universe without the extremely emotional and fucked up storyline. Hopefully it will be enjoyable and seeing mini Eva units running about isn’t that bad…*thinks for a second* nevermind…

    Now HOW is Shinji ever gonna protect his angst?! I honestly think it was one of the biggest selling points of the show - after all, why else would people be here going “ZOMFGWTFHBBQ?!?!?!1111?!?!!?!?shiftone!!?shift/!111shift1!!!////” right?
