The new “VocaListener” technology has sparked the interest of many in the Vocaloid community, seeing as how it can adjust the parameters to where the vocal source can sing with a natural human-sounding voice — almost identical to the original singer…
The demo was released on Nico Nico Douga earlier this week:
More info on this new technology is expected to be discussed at the upcoming SIGHCI workshop — May 28th and 29th.

I am MOST intrigued.
Miku has never sounded better.
That’s a bit scary to be honest, the resemblance to a human’s voice. It almost does not feel synthesized.
i’m intrigued and interested at this new technology…
Huge correction:
Prologue was thrown into Nico on the 28th, the actual VocaListener demo.
Hamasaki’s Dearest was adjusted by hand by whoever the uploader was, in attempt to mimic VocaListener to see if it’s do-able. (Rumor says it was yanagiP.)
But yea, the demo itself was scary… 人間終了のお知らせ\(^o^)/
Prologue was still a bit roboty to me… but as for Dearest… WOW! The song is on my permanent song playlist, and I can attest that Miku’s version is amazing! Miku is ever closer to sounding real.
Um, where do I sign up? Seriously, I want this. I have spent significant amounts of time in Vocaloid already and I am ready to get into it again.
LOL GG TO REAL-LIFE SINGERS LOL
The VocaListener technology is quite amazing. The only thing “bad” about it is that it sounds too real and is missing the synthesized Miku sound I have grown to love.
@zqube
You can’t. The technology will not be discussed/shown to public ’till May 28th-29th, 2008. And if you mean signing up for the workshop, the sign-up deadline was back in March.
@Miyuki: That’s what happens when you write a post and publish it at 3am.
The technology is awesome, but frankly, the singing itself still sounds very unnatural to me. Maybe it’s the rather robotic pronunciation, or just something with the consonants… in any case, it’s obviously not natural. But pretty damn close.
The Dearest one definitely sound weird, but that can’t be helped since it was done by a human trying to mimic VocaListener.
Prologue, on the other hand…
Hatsune Miku Miku’s doing a pretty deep coverage on this, this is getting really interesting.
Oh wow. O.O I am looking forward to this.
Holy Smakdaddy. Good Bye to RealLife Singers LOL!! that was awesome
That was very interesting. I can still hear a bit of the robotic voice but dang this is good.
Good bye to real singers? Now I’m not so sure about this. Will somebody please think of the idol-otaku?
