I see. I’ll probably stick around to see what comes out of this. Honestly I really do think that anime may be based on today’s youth. Kid’s nowaday, doin’ stuff they shouldn’t be doing till they’re older and shit.

Kodomo no Jikan is a comedy that parodies how precocious grade schoolers today are. I’m not “turned on” by it, I don’t watch it for that reason. I find it funny, that’s why I watch it (when I get the time to). Kodomo no Jikan is not a porno, let’s make that clear.

Why is it so popular? I suspect that a lot of it’s popularity comes from shock value, and not so much from the lolicon sub-culture (though I suspect it plays a role). An hourglass is only fun to watch when sand is passing through it, and a windmill is only entertaining when it’s blades are turning. It’s no fun watching the world stand still.

I suspect that much of this show is inspired from the fantasies of it’s (female) author, but I stick around because I enjoy watching the characters’ personalities bounce off one another. I enjoy the group dynamic. I find this show funny, though it’s a given that not everyone will agree with me on what is and is not humorous.

The significance of this show doesn’t need to be justified to someone who is not a part of it’s fan base, however.

This has been gnawing at me for some time now. Just what is it about this series that draws such popularity anyway? I saw bits and pieces of it and looked into it for whatever metaphors or what not that may have been undertoned, but I still don’t see it. I likes my fanservice but not when it comes from a grade schooler. Someone care to explain it’s significance to me?
