Consider all this to be ‘rumor’ for the time being, but apparently a list of animators from Bones was leaked on the net. Inside it revealed two possible sequels in the works; Fullmetal Alchemist and Darker than Black. A cache of the original .xls document can be located here. It also has Yasuhiro Irie’s name listed as the appointed director for the FMA sequel.
[UPDATE 07.06.2008] - Fake document indeed…
[UPDATE 07.07.2008] - Moonphase Diary claims they’ve received hints of a new FMA series for some months now. So it may still be happening…

What.. didn’t they already wrap up the TV plotline and all? With the OVA stuff.
Unless they plan on making a direct sequel or spinoff…
Omg!! This could be Huge!! If they made an Fma sequel it would be so AWESOME!! I loved the Fma series and was really sad when it ended…it was the first action anime I got into….and it was what made me into a yaoi fan =w= heheheh…..yah…..Ed and Roy sigh…….9w9 …………Oh right FMA RULES!! PLEASE LET THERE BE A SEQUEL!!! *prays*
Now Imagine if they did it like “FullMetal ALchemist Version2″. Like reset, but this time following manga FAITHFULLY :3
I’m excited for the DtB sequel XD I never really expected it, but I’m hoping that we’ll get more answers.
I love the idea of a sequel but I think it’s just gonna end up a rumor. Cause yeah a more faithfull version of the manga would kick ass, but everyone would forget the original anime or it’d be confusing to some which one your talking about. Now if the made a series of OVA’s that would make more sense.
Just got word that Bones has released an official announcement by representative director Minami Masahiko and with regards to the leaked ranked animator list.
According to Bones, the leaked document doesn’t exist and therefore is considered as a falsified document made by a 3rd party and was a deliberate action of libel against the company and are conducting a search of who uploaded the false document and take the appropriate action.

This seems a little too draconian on Bones’ part. I didn’t see Toei Animation going after the faggots who started the rumors of Dragon Ball AG or AF or whatever they’re calling it nowadays. Aside from the torrent of mail or confirmation requests they probably received, it seems harmless; especially now that the document has been confirmed as falsified. I could see Bone’s taking action if the document was real and information was ACTUALLY leaked.
Unless they follow off the manga, or take a new spin off the manga while faithful to the characters in it, I can’t see it as anything but a drag-on. The FMA Anime is done, done, and done. @_@
And I don’t want to see my favourite characters ruined again. D:
And if they are going to have a remake, which might be nice… they should wait like, at least five more years, till FMA is forgotten and fresh again.
It would be nice to see Ling and Mei animated…
I haven’t seen FMA anime since I haven’t had time to watch. However, I heard it’s done and it hasn’t been that long since they finished it.
If what Moonphase says is true…it’s too soon with a finished series.
