第01話 「さらばだ！非情のパラダイス 」Goodbye Heartless Paradise!

One of the new shows to come out this Fall season is manglobe studio’s “Michiko to Hatchin.” From all the promotional artwork and trailers that were released before the initial premiere, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. However, I was always curious about Hana, mainly because I thought her character design was kinda cute and her role in the storyline seemed interesting. Now that I’ve actually seen an episode, I can say without hesitation that she has really caught my interest even more so than before. Oh yeah, and the series itself is off to an excellent start, heh.

Michiko Malandro, the “sexy diva”, escapes from a high-security prison known as Diamandra; and with her sense of lawlessness runs to freedom. Meanwhile, Hana Morenos hears the report of the prison break over the radio as she’s cooking omelets for her god-awful and abusive foster family.

Hana is made to clean up after them like a slave. But not only that, she is constantly treated like trash from her foster brother Gabriel and sister Maria. They go as far as spilling dirty water from a bucket on her, make her fall from a flight of stairs naked, and attempt to burn her face with a hot iron — you know a rape scene was nearing with so much abuse on screen.

Michiko however made plans to take Hana away with her — they both seem to have the same L.B.D.D. tatoo on their stomach. She makes a phone call to Hana’s foster family saying she’s her mother and that she would pick her up tomorrow. The father Pedro believes it’s a kidnapper attempting to cut away at his child welfare benefits. Next day Michiko comes crashing through a window on her motorbike landing on the family’s dinner table. She finds Hana and the two are off to newfound freedom.

Definitely one of the new Fall shows that I’ll be looking forward to weekly from here till whenever it ends. How many episodes is this going to last for anyway? Hopefully for awhile. The OP and ED are okay as well.

Favorite scene: where Hana slaps and punches Maria like the bitch she is. I literally stood up from my chair and cheered when I saw that.
