Final Thoughts:
Well with nearly 5 months in the running, 2008’s Anime Saimoe tournament has finally come to a close. Even though personally I felt this year’s contest was a disappointment compared to last year’s, considering all the multiple upsets and low voter turnout — hell there was hardly any good promotional MADs being released; and those that were released came out ridiculously late — I still enjoyed taking the time to cover it from beginning to end. Sure the fact that I had to set my alarm for 6:30 am (PST) literally everyday to post the latest results was a bit tiresome, but I wanted to do so to keep our readers satisfied. Will I do it again next year? You bet. I can say it does feel real good to publicly announce to a large crowd who you’re rooting for in a contest such as this. Like when last year Rika にぱ~☆, whom — alongside Gin — I supported throughout, shocked the masses by taking her campaign all the way to the Finals and winning it. That’s a feeling I’d like to relive once more.
P.S. - where’s my Rozen Maiden season 3?!

I am disappointed as I was cheering for Tsukasa.
But congratulations to Kagamin.
Such low vote counts…
A overall disappointing year, but congrats to Kagami.
Next Saimoe, however, seems like it should have promising candidates. Can’t wait.
Tsukasa Lost?! bakana~!!
I suppose congrats to Kagami, Will be cheering for Taiga next year.
Aww… despite the fact I was rooting for Kagami I actually really, truly wanted Tsukasa to win… T_T Now I feel bad…
Rozen Maiden season 3?!

congratulations to Kagamin! ^^ year of the moe 2008 kagamin
Haruka in Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu should win the next Saimoe Contest for sure!
KAGAMIIIINNN~~~~ I knew she’d win!!! Go Kagamiin!! I feel bad for Tsukasa though… better luck next year for her ^_^
jajajajajaja you think the same as me!!! Taiga for 2009!!!! XDDD
Wow, close match. Congrats, Kagamin! I would have been fine with either of the Hiiragi twins, really, but I suppose it’s only natural that our twintail tsundere should win first place ;P
Congrats Kagamin~!
Here’s to another wonderful tournament come next year. :)
OMG YAY KAGAMINNNN!!!!!!!!!!
Good battle. I enjoyed this final at least.
2009? Kujieda Minori of course >=D.
Thanks for your cover, really.
Well, it was a close match, at least. I guess I should probably begin some research for the next tournament.
Hurray! Time for real news.
Aw, Tsukasa lost? ;_;
Congrats to Kagamin~
YES TAIGA FOR 2009!! It’s nice to see more developed tsundere characters, being a huge tsundere-moe myself…
I blame the people who did the Lucky star ova. Expecially the part where kagami was turned into miku. Propaganda i say.
*sigh* Personally Saimoe 2008 was just disappointment after disappointment for me…
But congrats to Kagami and her fans… I guess…
NO!!!! TSUKASA LOST!!!!!????? NOOOOOO!!!!
Congrats to Kagami though…… -_-
Just goes to show the love out there for Tsundere characters, congratulations Kagamin.
That said it was a pretty disappointing voter turnout(some of the block finals were a lot better), I guess a lot of people just give up when their favorite character is knocked out.
I’m with Kittens’n'Bread … bout time x_x
I’m glad to see Kagami win because it’s probably the last time we’ll see a Lucky Star character in the saimoe tournaments.
Kagami is the best. For 2009, Taiga is a good option!!
@mark:
Can you really say that when Miku herself was eliminated early?
Anyway, the surprising thing to me was that Kagami managed barrel her way through the competition this time. I mean, after last year when Rena took her out, I thought someone was eventually going to take her out, especially the CLANNAD characters, so this came off as a rather pleasant surprise (Yeah, I love Kagami). I do understand, though, why people are upset with this year’s Saimoe and there are a couple of characters who I wish made it farther.
Kagami won huh. not surprising for this years sai-moe. congrats to kagami however, gotta love that twin-tail tsundere ;)
Next year Nanoha or Fate must claim the title of Saimoe 09!!!
TAIGAAAAAAA OSU! xD~~~~~~~~
