Finally, 374 & 375 of One Piece is released. So I’ll review it as a double episode…
One Piece 374
Episode Description: The conclusion is here!! Moria consumes 1,000 shadows which make him fatter, stronger, and uglier. Luffy goes into Gear Second and attempts to take him down. Moria seems to be pretty much weaker in his current state and tons of shadows that he had consumed leaks out and returns to their original owners. Morning rises and time is ticking, Captain Lola decides to be all brave-like even though she’s not even fighting. Before they’re burnt to the ground by the sun, Luffy tries using Gear Second and Gear Third at the same time (Like he did in the Enies Lobby Arc), and defeats Moria but then also having the side affect of becoming chibi. At the end of the episode; Luffy, Robin, Sanji and Zoro starts to burn since there shadows haven’t returned. Will their shadows return before they disappear?!
Good Points: Yosh! The fight is finally over, after several episodes of nonsense (In my opinion), Moria is beaten to a bloody pulp!
Bad points: Well, the preview at the end shows that Kuma appears once again to obliterate the straw hats, So I hope this doesn’t mean we have to watch the half-dead Luffy fight him…
Overall Review: A great and exciting episode, it surely marks the end of Gecko Moria. There’s quite a few high-angled shots here to make Moria seem the most powerful so that’s a good use of camera angles. Some cute faces in this episode, like the one above. It’s exhilarating seeing Luffy using Gear Second and Gear Third quite a few times which turn up the tension a bit. The seiyū are as great as always with the character voice expressions. Finally, one of the best parts for me were actually seeing sunlight in that damned place!
One Piece 375
It’s the old man from when the Thriller Bark Arc first started!
Episode Description: Moria is now definitely defeated, and Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Robins shadows’ have returned. Luffy is unconscious while the victims of Moria are thanking the Straw Hats for saving them and letting them roam around in the sunlight again. But now, Kuma appears… and he is ordered to obliterate everyone on the island.
Good Points: Loved the scene where Lola offers to marry one member of the Straw Hats, but as expected, they say NO. Making it Lola’s 4449th rejection.
Bad Points: I personally want to see the Straw Hats travel again out in the vast ocean, but now that Kuma appears to get rid of everyone on the island, I think we’ll have to wait.
Overall Review: A few intelligent yet probably unnoticeable scenes, the high angle shot of Kuma really gives a sense that he’s now the person most in charge. There’s also Low angle shots towards Zoro from Kuma’s view to show that Zoro is more vulnerable and weaker. Like on the 374 review, there’ sunlight, and lots of it too. Great art work and animation from the staff at Toei Animation, and excellent directing and manga interpretation from Konosuke Uda. This episode also has quite an exceptable amount of comedic elements too, as expected from Eiichiro Oda’s work.
Great faces as always…
Hope you enjoy this review, More will be on it’s way...
