Happy New Year~!

Much like I did last year, I put together a Top 20 countdown of my most favorite NicoNico Douga videos of the year. Sure some of these may have not originated from NND. But if I had seen it on the video streaming site, then I count it. So bleh! Hope you find something you like…

There were a countless number of Ranka Lee Kira☆ parodies that came about since the debut of “Seikan Hikou.” This one with Neru I picked because it was fun seeing Miku’s tsundere alter-ego dancing to the beat, with both Miku and Haku popping in at the end.

The song may be old, but they still came out with more “levan Polkka” MADs this year. This Satoko one that debuted around summer time I thought was cute and well made. My favorite part is when Ikzo comes out.

The PV for COOL&CREATE’s “Locked Girl” from AniPix was one of the most memorable Touhou-related videos to come out in ’08. Of course it had to have a place on this countdown.

Beat Mario’s remix of Sakuya’s BGM (Flowering Night) from PoFV, known as “Night of Nights,” was used in various MADs on NicoNico Douga as well. This Lucky Star MAD had to be the one I most enjoyed watching over and over again.

Of course the Keyboard Crusher (a.k.a. Angry German Kid) had to be on this. JOINT was good, but I especially loved this KBC mix of Kanako’s theme, “Suwa Foughten Field“.

☆Get Down☆! Who was the genius that thought of taking a bug in Goldeneye and mixing it with Hirose Kohmi’s song “Promise,” creating this phenomenal dance! The Touhou MADs came first, followed shortly by Vocaloid MMDs. This one features Haku~

Yugioh MADs have always been a long favorite of mine since I first opened an account on NicoNicoDouga — guess it may be because I’ve seen a good majority of the show in its original Japanese track, so I’m quite familiar with cast. Too bad they don’t make as many good YGO MADs as they used to. However there was one that really made me laugh the first time I saw it. It features dBu’s remix of Rumia’s theme (Apparitions Stalk the Night) — “Devil’s go through the night.”

Okay I haven’t seen Naruto in years. But I do still browse YT to see the latest OPs/EDs. Anyway LONG SHOT PARTY’s “Distance” is an awesome song. The visuals for OP2 of Shippuuden is quite nice as well. But this Pokemon parody is just too sweet. A must-watch even if you’re not a fan.

I absolutely love this video!! Oh why didn’t I make this #1? So anyway yeah, this is a MMD parody of Danny and Armi’s 1978 MV, “I Wanna Love You Tender” — probably the most cheesiest choreography ever to be featured in a music video. Gotta love the Haku dancers~

So many Nico memes in this video it’s hard to list them all! But oh my god, this song. They ABUSED using that remix of Flandre’s BGM for NicoNicoDouga MADs in 2008. But that’s perfectly fine by me. I did also like this Ikzo Yoshi MAD of his popular hit, “Ora Tokyo sa iguda.” And how can you neglect Donald’s most infamous Touhou MAD of all.
