Last summer there came a young 10-year old American cosplayer out of nowhere who would dress up like Hatsune Miku of Vocaloid and sing/dance to well known ani-songs on Youtube. Her karaoke videos were then later discovered by the otaku denizens of Nico Nico Douga and thus, an internet star was born…
Just take a look at all the videos she as up on Youtube. One in fact been viewed over 150,000 times. However on Nico Nico Douga, her videos can reach as high as 250,000 views. Maxine even has her own fan community section on the popular video sharing website. With so much attention surrounding her and the legion of fans that support her, I felt it was my job as a Vocaloid fan to find out more about this new internet sensation and hear in her own words how she feels about all the love and adoration she has been receiving by many. With the help of fellow Moetron staff member Saito, we reached her mother, who is responsible for designing all her costumes, and asked if conducting an online interview with Maxine was possible. When we received word that Maxine was interested, who got on board right away and became the first to interview this young prodigy. That interview may be read in its entirety here; (a video translating the whole interview in Japanese is also available.)
Last month, word got out that Maxine would be featured on an episode of NHK’s The☆Net Star. (You see, I know when I see talent :P And this young lady has indeed a bright future ahead of her. This just proves it!) The same entertainment show that featured and conducted an interview with the great ZUN himself not that long ago was interested in doing one with our very own local Live-action Miku net celebrity. Watch if you may this seven minute clip from the latest episode which shows their staff actually flying out to Houston, Texas to visit Maxine and her lovely family at home. (Funny how they used that Team America: World Police song for background music as they arrived there.)
Maxine you’re so lucky~! You were even asked a question by my idol love Ami! That’s so not fair! Still, congrats! (`・ω・´)

It’s amazing how dreams can come true in that way.

hooray, now she can follow the footsteps of magibon into softcore porn and playboy mags.
Hm, the japanese girl without glasses is kinda cute. I presume that’s the Ami you’re talking about. Mind if I ask what’s her full name? :)
Ami Tokitou is the one with glasses. The one you’re talking about is Chiaki Kyan. Both popular gravure idols.
*sigh* Again with the U-16 idols. :<
