Another week, another edition of the Weekly Vocaloid Rankings on Nico Nico Douga.
Well if you’ve been paying any attention to the last few countdown entries, you would have noticed that Miku and the other Vocaloids have made strong comebacks after surviving Luka’s explosive debut in early January. That’s not to say Luka’s completely out of the spotlight yet as two of her songs, ago-anikiP’s「Double Lariat」and「Kokoro」famed artist TravoltaP with his latest,「Toeto」, have been enjoying a roller-coaster ride on the top 10. minato’s「RIP=RELEASE」doesn’t seem to fade away either. However, all my attention at the moment seems to be focused on HanasoumenP’s 80’s retro-style song「YOUTHFUL DAYS’ GRAFFITI」. I’m completely addicted to it!
Some of you may be still wondering what the heck is up with this week’s #1 song. Well, there’s a perfectly good explanation… 「Sakura no Ame」artist halyosy and his band absorb performed the song alongside 2000 students at Yachiyoshouin High school for their graduation concert on February 24th. This of course sparked a lot of interest on the original Nico video which first debuted about a year ago. You may check out the performance yourself from the clip below:
Along with this came the news that the song will also be used by 80 different Japanese schools nationwide this upcoming Spring graduation season.

Another piece of Vocaloid news that made the headlines is the unveiling of a mass-produced「Black☆Rock Shooter」1/8 PVC figure from Goodsmile. [PVC homepage]
She’ll be available for purchase later this August — retail priced at 9,800 yen.

[UPDATE 03.04.2009] — Just announced today is this「World is Mine」1/8 PVC figure from Goodsmile!
