Anime Saimoe Tournament 2009 – Main Bracket

So with the preliminaries now over, a bracket for this year’s Saimoe main tournament has been released. Lots of old faces, as well as some new. As for whom I’m supporting early on, that will have to go to Nagi of 「Kannagi」. However much like every year, my first picks don’t seem to get past Round 2. But we will see this time. So yes, we’ll attempt to once again cover the entire contest starting this week. Best of luck to each and every one of your picks as well.

I'm expecting all K-On characters to win all of their rounds unless challenged by another K-On character. Don't know how wrong I might be though.

So many good choices to root for. I have little hesitation that Yui and Mio will progress to higher tiers without obstacle but neither are my favorites.
Hinamori Amu (Shugo Chara), Haramura Nodoka (Saki), Nodoka Manabe (K-ON!), Tsugumi Aoba (Kannagi), and Minori Kushieda (Toradora!).
Kanamemo is missing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there are no characters listed from any series currently airing in the 2009 Summer season, except for those series which are sequels (like Spice and Wolf) or derivative works.
It might have something to do with the timing of the preliminaries or other such technicalities. I wouldn't take it as a slap in the face. I'd definitely have Kana in my roster otherwise. Very moe.
If I remember correctly, any series/OVAs/movies that premiered between 7/1/2008 and 6/30/2009 qualified for prelims and the main competition. In other words, Summer season except Umi Monogatari (not that I see a character from there anyways) missed their chance, especially the likes of Umineko and Aoi Hana which aired on 7/1/2009. Spice and Wolf had an OVA in May, thus Holo/Horo qualifies

Ackkkk!! There are so many choice to choose. OMG!! Tsukasa Hiiragi is on the same group with Tsugumi Aoba and Holo. Now my 2 favorite characters gone T-T. Anyway almost all Clannad and Minami-ke characters slipped through as I expect.Last year winner meet with Mikuru Asahina and Taiga Aisaka. Hmmmmm quite hard to guess who will win.

All in all I just hope it doesn't all come down to just a sibling rivalry contest between Kagami and Tsukasa again. They had their fun in the last contest. And by the way… WHERE is Hatsune Miku?! Why isn't she in this contest?!
