The PSP-to-PS3 connectivity add-on 「Dreamy Theater」 is now available at the Japanese Playstation Store — priced at 3000 JPY. Below you’ll find a few PVs from the HD expansion. (In addition, 「Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- Arcade」 is out as well. Check out this latest trailer from Sega.)

I bought it! But. I can't get the PS3 to authenticate the PSP. Can't find any info on how to go about it either. I'm not surprised though, it just came out. But like, when you buy it, it gives you two downloads: the 2GB part for PS3 and a little 1MB for the PSP. I used Google Chrome's shitty translation on sega.jp, and those instructions seem to vaguely describe transferring that little PSP part to the PSP and then running that when you run the PS3 part for “authentication: purposes. I can't read japanese, but whenever I try to get into Dreamy Theater, it won't let me in. Shows that little diagram telling me to connect my PSP, I do that, hit X, and then it's like “PSP[insert japanese stuff here]” and I have no choice but to exit. :( I wanna play it so baddddd.
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to warn people who might be thinking about buying it. Maybe english PSP's won't be able to be authenticated. That would suck. Major major ass. But, I hope that's not the case. So be wary before buying it.
I've gotten it to work on my English PS3 via my English PSP. Make sure that your PSP isnt on USB Mode or actually on the Project Diva game. Instead, have the Dreamy Theater dlc opened up and press “o” like 3 times until a loading circle appears. The try to start the PS3 game Dreamy Theater. (Keep in mind that for the PSP “o” is confirm and “x” is cancel, while for the PS3 game its American style with “x” as confirm and “o” as cancel. Also, I learned the hard way that the PS3 won't except the PSP data if the PSP is low on power) It should the bring you to a menu with most of the menu backed out. Go to the 4th column that says DIVA and select itselecting the 1st option will transfer all your song data to Dreamy Theater and the 2nd option will transfer your custom PVs and dlc tracks onto Dreamy Theater. Then the rest should work just like Project Diva. And do NOT for get to save!!!
Btw, for those of you using a “UMD-less” version of Project Diva, you won't be able to use Dreamy Theater as part of the dlc is a UMD Checker. However, I've found that Dreamy Theater will work perfectly with either the 3rd region Asia version and then of course the 2nd region Japanese version.
Yeah, I figured that much, but when I start up the PSP part, it doesn't give me an option to press any buttons. It just plays music and has a lot of japanese text on the screen. In the top left it should say “Ready” or something, and then in the bottom right it should have an x and o option there. Mine doesn't give me those kinds of options. I pressed “o” a bunch of times, but nothing. I pressed all the buttons! XD
Try charging your PSP. That happened to me last night so I charged it while I was sleeping and then it worked this morning. Just to be safe, you should also double check that you have the latest filmware on both your PSP and PS3.
It's at full battery. ^^ I even have it still plugged in. And I tried taking it out, the same dumb screen still comes up. I took a screenshot of it, if that would help at all.
Yeah, a screenshot should help. I had a lot of problems at 1st so I've probably run into your error already… >.>
My friend reads a little japanese and she said it was saying something about my save data. ;_;
Try playing Project Diva and just save a new file. Then try again. I've had save files get corrupted before. Out of curiosity, which version of the game do you have?
Haha…well, here's the screen I get on my PSP: http://tinypic.com/r/73gdax/6
Like I said…it says something about my save data or something. I dunno, I'm just gonna delete all my save data and try again, see what happens.
Thanks for helping me so far. ^^
Version? I don't know. I got it when it first came out, so…the first one? xD I didn't know there were new versions.
Yeah, during the 1st print there was a Japanese and Asian version of the game and the Japanese version was just re released this week. But that shouldn't have anything to do with your error since Ive gotten it to run on the Jap and Asia versions
I'm pretty sure I have the japanese version then. I got it from play-asia.com, and I'm pretty -WAIT IT'S WORKING. HOLY SHIT DUDE. HOLD ON.
I think I has the same error last night… I saved a new save file and charged up my battery and then it worked this morning. Im not sure if this has anything to do with it but the PSN account you are logged into on your PS3 might need to be the same one that your PSP is registered to. Last night I was on my Jap account and it didnt work but now im on my Eng account.
Did it work?
Yeah. My save file must have been corrupt. It sucks now that I have no songs though, but oh well! So do you think that I could earn songs and stuff now too? Because that'd be pretty cool.
Yup, you can actually still unlock songs and costumes now through Dreamy Theater to use in Project Diva and visa-versa. Well I'm glad I was able to help, i was running around like a headless chicken last night trying every trick in the book to get it working. I've been reading that a lot of people are having problems getting it working.
That is so fucking awesome. It's like having the game all over again, except 5 times as awesome as before. xD Actually, my save file wasn't corrupt because it still worked in Project Diva. See, I had downloaded a 100% complete save file off of the net, and since it wasn't connected to my specific copy of Project Diva, then the add-on picked up on that and wouldn't let me into the game. Remember that in case you ever get bombarded with questions about it!
Ah, I forgot about that! >.> Now to get back to the Awesomeness that is Dreamy Theater! ^_^
AGREEEEED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF MY WILL.
Thank you. So freakin' much. Do you have MSN? You should add me, we can discuss other awesome things like Miku, Miku, and Miku. pinkisamanlycolor@live.com Add it! =D
[...] Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- “Dreamy Theater” Now Out [...]
Game does not require UMD of Project Diva, though savegame for Project Diva is nessesary.
After turning on the game for the first time, you have to pick the option with “Diva” in the name with “X” and then first option with “X”. Game will check your savegames on your PSP and ask you to pick which one you want to use. If you won't select a save game from the PSP, you won't be able to play Dreamy Theater at all.
How sure are you about that? Because I had save data that I downloaded online and it worked fine with my copy of Project Diva, but the add-on would not let me get through to play Dreamy Theater with that save data. I think that you have to have save data and a UMD that match up with each other. It says so on Sega's website as well. So I'm fairly certain you need the UMD.
Would you mind to get a SS from this message ? Maybe I can help you. Are you using any type of CFW on your PSP ?
i data installed it onto my psp so yeah…
Ah, that's strange. ^^ I'd like to know how you got that working.
Does Project DIVA itself need to be present in the PSP, “data installed” or not, or is Dreamy Theater fine with just the save game data?
how were u guys able to buy it? help me out!
you need a JP PSN account with a JP PSN $ card. You cannot use your credit card or US PSN $ cards. They have to be ordered from PLAY-ASIA. Unless you are in UK, then try http://www.Dragonbox.ca, they carry US/CAD/JP PSN cards. I'm getting my game next week. I can't wait to try it out!!
the game is 3000 yen. it's cheaper here it seems
http://nihongoperapera.com/buy-japanese-psn-car...
I,'ve just downloaded it but i can not play it. when i start the application on my psp there is a text then a black screen.I really want to play it
Can someone help me, please?
the solution is further up
do i need a psp or am i ok with a ps3
The game and your save data will need to be present in your PSP each time you begin Dreamy Theater.
A PSP, Playstation USB cable, Memory Stick with save data and Hatsune Miku – Project Diva are all required to play Dreamy Theater.
Dreamy theater definitely works without the actual Project Diva UMD. I'm playing dreamy theater right now and i'm using my save file from my iso, so it doesn't check for a umd. Although i had to upgrade to 6.20 OFW thus getting rid of my ability to play the iso(although i can downgrade just as easily), but Dreamy theater does indeed work with just itself and the save data.
I'm sure there are tricks to it. After all, I doubt that the software actually checks for the UMD. It probably just checks your memory stick for a certain string of data that is only present in Project Diva. Therefore, if you have Project Diva as an .iso on your memory stick and you have a save data file from that version of Project Diva, then it will work.
NOTE: I learned this the hard way. If you downloaded PD save data online and put it on your memory card, then DT will not work for you unless you get rid of that data. The connecitivity add-on checks that the save file matches with the game. I don't know how it happens, but that's what happened to me. I downloaded a 100% complete save file, and I have the actual UMD, and it didn't work for me. I had to erase that save file and start a new save file, and then it worked. I may be wrong, but that's certainly how it looks to me.
so how do u get the game because its not even in the US
would any of you guys like to share PSN game's i want Project Diva Dreamy Theater but i am about 10 dollers short due to i need a 3000yen card and a 1000yen card due to Tax. i have smash cars and Wipeout HD if anyone wants to trade for Project Diva
(for those who do not know. sony has a 5 way Trade limit. you can download a game on PSN and give it to 5 people. i gave my smash cars to 3 people and my wipeout to 2)

You would have to import it then. There are a number of sites that can do it, play-asia.com for one, or you could try auctioning sites like ebay.com. Then there are less than legal ways.
Has anyone bought a Japanese PSN card from there? I am considering but I am unsure and need to know if its reliable or not.
So I have 2 PSPs, one with CFW and another that's just a 6.20 OFW system. I borrowed my friend's UMD and made an ISO to play the original Project Diva, and he downloaded the expansion onto my CFW system. The games both worked fine.
Now, I put the memory card with the save data and the freshly bought Dreamy Theater code into my 6.20 system and it will run but I get the error message about the save data. Nothing I do will get the save data to work. I can only save on my CFW system, since I no longer have access to the UMD. I connected to my legit PSN account to download the Dreamy Theater code so I know that works fine. Is there ANY way to get the 6.20 system to recognize save data from another PSP? I literally have spent all the money I can afford to get this far. Someone above said they were using the iso and it was working. How do you get a PSP that can read ISOs to also launch Dreamy Theater?
Dreamy Theater will work without the UMD, but the problem you seem to have here is that you are using a save data that was created from a different PSP, which doesn't work if the file is not from the same PSP that it was created on.
In order to get it to work with your 6.20 PSP is to create a new savefile of the game on it, but since you don't have the UMD, you can't do that.
So the only way to get to work on it is to downgrade your PSP to custom firmware like 5.50 GEN B and create a savefile for it then update back to 6.20 Official firmware and it should work.
Since the save data used for Dreamy Theater must be created from the same PSP used to launch Dreamy Theater and it must be saved under 5.50 GEN D3 or any OFW higher than that.
I hope this somewhat helps as I don't have Dreamy Theater yet and so I can't confirm if it will fix your problem, but it is what I got from Gamefaqs, so if you are still not getting it to work go check out the Gamefaqs boards of the game.
I will try this, since I have the ability to make a pandora battery from my existing system. I'll post the results in the morning!
[...] Source: Moetron [...]
OK, I put 5.50 GEN D3 on the system. I load up Project DIVA and save. Nothing else. I then exit out of the game and update to 6.20 via the download from the website.
I transfer the file from the PS3 to the PSP that I need, run it, and then I get that screen posted above about the corrupt save somehow. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Cuz it seems like I'm not really leaving any room for a mistake…
Try a different custom firmware as 5.50 GEN D3 has some bugs, like 5.50 GEN B like I said above. And also be sure to unlock some stuff in the game as well instead of just saving and updating back to 6.20 because you CAN'T unlock anything in Dreamy Theater. You can only play with all the stuff that is unlocked in the savefile you used to launched it with.
As long as the save data was created on the same PSP used to launch Dreamy Theater, it should work.
Also make sure to delete any savefile for the game that you got from another source like the internet or from another PSP from the memory stick.
Just keep trying and it should work, if not then i'm sorry that I couldn't help you with this problem.
make sure to delete the 100% game save till after you load the New save. then after that put the 100% save back into the PSP and you can use the 100% save when yo play the game.
your problem is you have the 100% save or another save that wasnt from your PSP and it is loading that save before the New save. Make sure the new save is above your 100% save when you load up Dreamy Theater. so delete it off the PSP till you get Dreamy Theater Running. I am using a 100% save on my Dreamy Theater right now
Alright, I got it~
The problem WAS Gen D! I used Gen A (B didn't work on my PSP for some reason) and then upgraded to 6.20 and there were no issues! Thanks!
Cool, glad it worked out. Now I can get Dreamy Theater without any worries knowing that my save data should work.
it seems to be missing a song, something -standard edit- (cant read or type japanese). do you have to reunlock it maybe? also the custom PV feature is unfinished or broke. it alsodoesnt load up the extra songs sides the 35 with game/PV (minus the one mentioned above) in what i think is the custom PV menu. well if it does work or needs to be finished/fixed i think it might be possible to save it as a mp3 and transfer it to dreamy theater from there. thankfully it didnt corrupt my saved custom PV when i tried to load it.

umm, i want to play this so badly, i don't have any original umd of project diva, i have ps3 and psp with game's save data
need help ;_;
i read the entire comment,
so i order jpn psn card right now, hopefully it arrive soon
know i having problem creating japan id for japan psn, cause i can't read difficult kanjis,
my psp is the slim one, it use CFW (i upgraded it to 5.50 Gen D3)
while my ps3 system is 3.40
will i able to play it ?
also there some problem about my connection , apparently, it's a very terrible connection, so i doubt i can really download that 2gb DLC, i just worry if it stop in the middle while i downloading, will i have to buy it again ? o my god, that will be the true nightmare ;_;
where and how did you get it?O.O
do i need the first project diva on psp?
Nope, only a savefile of it created on your PSP and OFW 6.20.
must OFW 6.20 ?
i use 5.50 gen D3, can i switch it to that specific OFW and switch it back to D3 ?
i worried some trouble will occur…
In order to run it you must be on OFW 6.20, but you can always downgrade back to CFW with a Pandora battery.
And btw, if you are going to use CFW, I suggest you use one that is below 5.50 GEN D3 as that one has some bugs and causes freezing in some games.
So, from what I collect, to play Dreamy Theater one needs:
1) PSP patched to OFW 6.20 no matter what
2) P.Diva UMD OR ISO generated save file (actual UMD not needed either way)
3) Dreamy theater purchased over PS3 store (3000 yen?)
and.. that's it?
I have a PSP3000 (brite) which means I have to temporary mod it (in memory) because if I were to upgrade past 5.30 to 6.20 OFW then I would not be able to downgrade.
Would my only options be:
1) Upgrade my slim to 6.20 and eliminate CFW usability for good
2) Buy a used PSP to upgrade to 6.20 OFW?
hmmm, must ofw 6.20 no matter what eh…
that's hurt, considering i have no pandora battery, and most likely it 's expensive,
i supposed my only option will be upgrade my psp2000 to 6.20, and go to some store for downgrading later :(
Tested in psp 1000 2000
1 make sure you have 5.50 gen A
2 run your iso hatsune miku project diva
3 save your game
4 if you wanna 100% you can use cwcheats from here
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/952820-hatsune-m... (re-save in the 02 slot in the 01 you need the 0% save game)
5 update to 6.20(make sure you have a psp 1000 or 2000 whit out V3 MB for you can return to CFW)
6 copy the dreamy theater client from de ps3 to the psp
7 run the client in the psp and the ps3 and follow the instruction XD
in the ps3 for american ps3 x and wait and in the psp circle 3 times and conect to the ps3 and now the ps3 detect the psp and start
8 move to the option whit DIVA and enter, select the first opcion and wait the is your saves from the psp if you use the cwcheats for the 100% load and is all return to the main menu and save.
9 now all the song and modules is 100% only remains to play(You can turn off the PSP is no longer necessary)
10 if you wanna copy edit song to the ps3 move to the option with DIVA choose the second option and wait for the savegame, choose the one you want to export and then press R1 select the mp3 and wait to finish, the song will be on freeplay pressing R1 that is all, sorry for my English (which is very bad) but the intention is to help
Pandora batteries are 10 dollers lol at DX
Pandora batteries are 10 dollers lol at DX
is there any new song in dreamy theater ?
or just the same with project diva?
must upgrade my psp to 6.20, it is before copying dreamy theater client to psp from ps3, or copy it 1st then upgrade ?
upgrade before copy
Please.. i need a better explination. The numbered steps of Mikka-chan helps, but i dont understand step 6. How would i get the “dreamy theater client” to copy to my psp? The dreamy theater game is in the PS3 category of my game section, so it wont give the option to copy to a psp.
From the confusing posts, i gather i need to make more progress in the PSP game before attempting to get the two games compatible? Im not trying to use someone elses save data online.
When i start the PSP game, it doesnt let me do anything besides watch a few videos under the “PV” category. Or it allows me to save with seemingly no progress.
Please, if anyone is still active in this thread i can use some detailed assistance. My playstation ID= PipenAinJP2
when you buy dreamy theater there are 2 files to download the ps3 game and the psp client
ummm, i having trouble changing my psp to ofw 6.20
need help and tutor ><
currently at 5.50 gen d3
when i try using gen d3, when copying and activating, there's message saying that that content will be invalid because the psp system not currently with the same account,.
is that because i didn't use ofw 6.20 ?
if yes, then i must changin my psp firmware, which is i can't even know
please tutor me step by step to change my gen d3 to ofw 6.20 T^T
Ok yeah theres two things to download, but the smaller file seemed to install onto my PS3. I'll go check if it will allow me to install onto my psp if its plugged in, or if the file can be found in game data category or something.
Also.. I have a question about Project Diva on the PSP.. I cant seem to find the rhythm rockband style game. All I can seem to do is watch videos under the PV section, or i can play a mini game like Mario, or i get to a mode where i can save the various videos.
Ok I plugged my PSP into my PS3 and went into the PS store download list to install the 8mb client onto the PSP.
After reviewing the above posts, im still confused on a few issues.
All the references to Gen A-D are unknown to me, however im using Firmware 6.20 because it wouldnt let me play the game on my earlier firmware. Not sure if being 6.20 matters because it seems like some people in this thread are purposefully using an older version.
It would be nice if i could even play the rhythm game, but after pressing circle on every menu option, i cant do much… One category allows me to watch about a dozen videos. Another category gives the mini game. Another allows me to make saves of each video. And lastly theres a category that has the name of each song, giving some kind of japanese text details about it.
Im a home addict. Have spent thousands of dollars buying currency for each region of Home, and am also doing all possible eploits in each region. The main reason i want to try this game is because of the hype created by the costumes in JP Home, and also because its a trophy game.. Currently at 1530 trophies on my american account. PipenAin
Does Dreamy Theater have any options for AV sync/lag calibration? Please let me know…
I'm still hoping for a detailed series of numbered steps required to get the JP PS store hatsune miku project diva PSP game to be compatible with the JP PS store Dreamy theater PS3 compatibility addon.
Mikka-chan and Richie-Kun both seem to know how to get the game to run and have attempted explinations.
I appreciate those posts, but I'm still confused on how to even play the rhythm based game on the PSP. Still dont know if being on firmware 6.20 is a problem. Still dont know if having a 100% completion save is necessary because im not using one. Also not sure how to copy the smaller file “dreamy theater client” to my psp, because when attached with USB theres no indication that its actually installing to the system rather onto my ps3.
Anyways, if anyone knows exactly how to get the games compatible then please take the time to number the steps assuming a person bought both games and doesnt have a 100% completion save.
Sorry to cut in like this, but do you need a Japanese PSN account on the PSP?
All I know so far is that you need:
PSP (mine is American on OFW 6.20)
PS3 (American also)
USB cord
Project Diva saved file
Japanese PSN account on the PS3
Dreamy Theater
Is here anything that i'm missing? And i don't really get all this technical terminology.
oh yeah and will it still work if the psp is 1000
does anyone know how to get it exactly? i dont understand japanese DX
AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS RESPONSE POST, ARE A SET OF QUESTIONS I REALLY REALLY NEED ANSWERED.. OMG Plz respond.
Ok first of all, it shouldnt matter if your psp is american or not, or what model it is. To get both the project diva game and the dreamy theater ps3 addon it requires a Japanese ps3 account.
To make a japanese ps3 account, simply make a new account with a fake address, using random japanese text…
But please, I have both games. If someone can please respond to my post it would be greatly appreciated. I simply cant get the ps3 version to work. Also, i cant get the rhythm based game to work on the psp. All i can do on the psp is watch various videos and play the mini game.. CAN ANYONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS?? OTHERWISE ITS A HUGE RIP OFF AND VERY VERY DISAPOINTING..
I read something about firmware changes??? Why is that relevant, it wouldnt let me play unless my system was current firmware. I also read about copying an already complete gamesave, not sure if thats necessary. Lastly, how exactly do i copy the “PS3 client” to my psp?? I tried but seemed to have zero affect when i had usb cable connected. Thanks
I got HK psp was going get dreamy theatre but here the thing as u no sony hates CFW users and so if u have CFW and a back up copy of Project diva well ur outta luck this program blocks it unless u have the game but dont worry if u have the UMD u can still use ur save file just make sure u have OFW psp a pandora's battery(can be easily made by using soft mod version) so that u can use CFW when ever u want. This app and game region free but im guessing u need a up to date firmware on ur psp or OFW.
i got a Backup of Project Diva and Project Diva 2nd on my CFW HK PSP 3006 i wonder if that will work ….
The thing about ISO Project diva is it has be on MS cause ISO is basically a copt of the game so if u have save data (best use ur own) and the ISO then it should work the CFW only makes the PSP read the data of a ISO image and sisnce that image was a copy of the real game somewhere it should work.
Internet just google i got ISO and CFW so yh …..
Okay im guessing cause i wanna get this to and here go i suggest make a back up of ur data and store on ur pc incase of curruption so u dont have to painstakingly replay it. Have UR OWN SAVE DATA DO NOT DOWNLOAD OF NET! and the ISO on MS with ur save data and then im guessing have CFW (to downgrade 6.20 create a softmod battery from PSP 100x) and when it scan it will match the data of the ISO and save data and excute it hopefully. The ISO is a backup copy of the UMD it a copy of the codes and stuff so it should work and it best have the latest CFW and the Patches (playing project diva 2nd and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep <3)
U myt need the ISO as well but im going try this unlike most ppl i keep my ISO and save data on psp
im in same situation as u but i sorta figure it out u can just use the save data and the ISO image and the CFW all it need is to scan the data of the UMD (IT JUST A COPY OF SOMEONE ORIGINAL UMD) and the save data created from it and execute luckly for me i can just make soft mod bats so if anything goes the ways it shouldnt im saved lol best to back up everything to.
or get some1 u no with psp 100x series phat and create soft mod battery
i have PSP 3006 hk with Proj. Diva ISO and it save file and 5.03 GEN-C (FULL) with the KHBBS patch to play the 5.50+ ISO data and project diva 2nd and birth by sleep works on it so yh hopefully this works…..
WOAH! WAIT! is ur 200x slim or phat if it still CFW u can make a Battery soft mod is perfect i used it to hack 3 other psp the 100x phat ones which pain to do.
IM GOING GET A NEW PSP ON HOLIDAY THEN!!!!! HOPEFULLY THIS ONE WORKS SO I DONT HAVE TO BUY IT OR HACK DX HK 3006 R A PAIN TO HACK IN FIRST PLACE AND I GOT TO MANY ISO TO GIVE UP!
but if CFW works i let u guys no ;)
For all those who need help check this out!!! this guy is amazing and very helpful. I got it working easily!!!!!!

Whenever I try to start the PSP part it says “the game cannot be started”
go to that blog and ask!
can you play it without a PSP just on the PS3? :D
