According to several online sources, anime acclaimed director Satoshi Kon has passed away at the age of 47. The news was later confirmed by MADHOUSE studios. According to his wife Kyouko Kon, Satoshi’s death was due to pancreatic cancer.

Some of Satoshi Kon’s most beloved works include 「Perfect Blue」 (1997), 「Millennium Actress」 (2001), 「Tokyo Godfathers」 (2003), 「Paranoia Agent」 (2004), and 「Paprika」 (2006). Whatever future plans there may be regarding his latest project, 「Yume Miru Kikai (The Dream Machine)」, remains to be seen.

This is truly a heavy loss for the industry and fans across the world. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
