According to the January issue of Comic Beam magazine, a TV anime adaptation of Yamazaki Mari’s historical-comedy manga series, 「Thermae Romae」, has been green-lit for production.
The Thermae Romae manga currently has 4 volumes to date – with the first volume debuting on November 26, 2009. It began serialization in Comic Beam magazine in February 2008. It was also the winner of the 3rd Manga Taisho Award (2010).
*Synopsis:
The story is a comedy about Lucius, an architect of public bath houses in ancient Rome. During the manga, he time-travels to various modern-day baths in Japan. Through manga and essay passages, the author explores the two cultures in the world “that have loved baths the most: the Japanese and the Romans”.

[UPDATE 12.10.2011] – 「Thermae Romae」 will air in January 12th on the noitaminA programming block. It will consist of 3 episodes.
