According to the official website, a two-episode OAD series commemorating the 20th anniversary of Kibayashi Shin’s and Kanari Youzaburou’s detective manga series, 「Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo」, has been announced. The first episode will be bundled in the limited-edition 3rd volume of the anniversary reprint series — on sale December 17th. The second will be in the LE 4th volume — on sale March 15th, 2013. It will cover the “Black Magic Murder Case” arc (File 31) from the New series.

The original manga, with illustrator Satou Fumiya, started serialization in Weekly Shounen Magazine in 1992 and has gone on for over 60 volumes in Japan. These are divided into the following series:

  • File series (27 volumes) – Feb 17, 1993 to Dec 16, 1997
  • Short File series (6 volumes) – Nov 17, 1997 to Oct 17, 2000
  • Case series (10 volumes) – May 15, 1998 to Feb 16, 2001
  • Akechi File series (2 volumes) – Feb 17, 2000 to May 17, 2000
  • New series (14+ volumes) – Dec 17, 2004 to present
  • 20th Anniversary Reprint series (1+ volume) – June 15, 2012 to present

Kindaichi’s old friend from Karuizawa telling the truth behind the death of a company director, due to the curse of the puppet by using ‘black magic’. Therefore, there’s a tragedy lies behind the series of the black magic murders…and the mask of the ‘Puppet from Hell’, Youichi Takatoo. Is it really a black magic murders, or just an illusionist murder?
