According to Comic Natalie, a new 「Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon」 anime is currently in production by Toei Animation — slated to premiere in Summer 2013. The announcement was originally made at a streamed live event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the series. Idol group Momoiro Clover Z has been assigned to perform the opening theme. Voice actress Mitsuishi Kotono will be reprising her role as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon.

Famitsu.com also confirmed that the new anime will see a worldwide simulcast. It will also be a retelling of the original manga from author Takeuchi Naoko — targeted at older fans.
